I am currently preparing my grandfather's memoirs for publication from a large collection of original photographs and hand written notes. After his death in July 2005, the project passed to me.
I would be very interested to hear from anyone who knew Norman Harry Mills (Millsy/The Brummagem Bastard) FX. 79020. He served on the aircraft carriers HMS Argus,Furious and Formidable in the Atlantic, Arctic, Mediterranean convoys and was attached to the 1st Army in North Africa during the Torch Landings. After the Sicily landings, after hospitalisation in the UK with Malaria (He was at HMS Heron from June until Nov 44)and rejoined Formidable in April 1945
He was back on Formidable for the kamikaze attack (4th May 1945)and stayed with her until demob in 1946.

Even if you did not know Norman H. Mills - the book is nearly ready to go out to find a publisher - please contact me if you would like further details.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I would like to hear from any survivors of H.M.S. Hermes and H.M.S. Warspite or anyone who can give me any information. My father, ALFRED WEBB was a Royal Marine, and survived both these sinkings. Sadly, he died on 30th July 2007 at the age of 84 years. He was born in Northwich, Cheshire in 1923. (After leaving the Royal Marines, he made his home in Plymouth and served for 30 years in the Police force.) He has several medals, some with a rose and some with oak leaves. He rarely discussed the War and what happened to him so I would now like to find out more.

Are there any ex or serving submariners who would be interested in meeting once a month for a chat and a drink in mid-Cornwall? It will be a chance to keep in touch and have a laugh with others who have served in and are proud to be submariners.

The idea is to re-establish a Cornish branch of the Submariners Association. I already know of a few who are interested but the more the merrier!!

You are welcome to contact me by E-mail:- des.trenoweth@tiscali.co.uk or by phone on 01209 219314
